Turn destination research into a clear brief
A personalised France holiday starts with a short, consistent brief. Instead of sending several package screenshots with different nights and inclusions, describe the route you want to explore and the decisions you still need help with. Use Paris, Nice and Lyon as the proposed stay options, and list the places that make each one worthwhile to you. The planner can then respond to the same priorities when comparing alternatives.
Use the worksheet below while reading the catalogue. It is a planning aid on this page, and filling it in does not send an enquiry. Keep a copy of your choices and share them with Glider through the holiday enquiry form or your existing conversation. Do not put passport, payment or other sensitive details in a first planning brief.
Your France route worksheet
| Proposed stay | Places to consider | Your priority |
|---|---|---|
| Paris | Montmartre, Seine river, Le Marais | |
| Nice | Promenade des Anglais, Old Town, Castle Hill | |
| Lyon | Vieux Lyon, Fourviere, Presqu ile |
For a first draft, decide whether Montmartre, Promenade des Anglais or Vieux Lyon is your strongest priority. Then consider the hotel changes required to include more than one base. A longer list should have a reason beyond covering more names on a map.
Questions prompted by your selected places
Paris
- Seine river: Specify the experience you want the planner to quote; the place name alone does not identify an operator, ticket or transport inclusion.
Nice
- Castle Hill: Say whether the visit itself, guide time or a wider route around the area matters most, so the quote can distinguish them.
- Castle Hill: Describe the pace and support you want for the outing, then ask the planner to explain what the confirmed arrangement involves.
Lyon
- Vieux Lyon: Ask the planner to describe this proposed stop, the arrangements it needs and the choices that still require your decision.
Adapt this example to your own holiday
"We are considering Paris and Nice, with Montmartre and Promenade des Anglais as our main interests. Please compare a route using those two bases with a slower option using one of them. Keep Lyon optional and explain what changes if we add it. We need the named hotels, transport between stays and included tickets listed separately."
Replace the bases, places and pace in that example with your actual choices. Add your departure city, preferred dates, number of adults and children, room-sharing needs and approximate total budget. Say whether the budget includes the journey from home. If dates are flexible, state the range rather than expecting the planner to infer it.
Ask for a response that answers the brief
- The proposed night-by-night stay sequence and the reason for any route change.
- A short explanation of what the compact and slower options include.
- The departure arrangements, named hotels and transport actually quoted.
- A list of essential experiences, optional extras and unresolved supplier checks.
- The full booking terms and the information still needed before confirmation.
| Route | Trip length | Stay bases |
|---|---|---|
| Paris | 4 days / 3 nights | 1 |
| Paris → Nice | 6 days / 5 nights | 2 |
| Paris → Nice → Lyon | 8 days / 7 nights | 3 |
Keep one agreed brief as the reference when comparing the alternatives. If you change a priority, tell the planner what it replaces rather than simply adding another stop. The final France quotation should reflect the current brief and identify every unresolved arrangement. This turns your research into a route you can assess and discuss before making a booking.
Questions for your France plan
Does the France trip worksheet send my choices to Glider?
No. The worksheet helps you decide which bases and places belong in your brief. Keep your choices and share them through the holiday enquiry form or your existing conversation with the team. Start with the selected route, departure city, dates, travellers and budget; sensitive identity or payment information is unnecessary for this first planning discussion.
What if I want Paris and Lyon but want to leave out Nice?
State that preference explicitly and ask the planner to compare the relevant route with a slower alternative. Name the experiences you want to retain, such as Montmartre and Vieux Lyon, and request the hotel-night sequence and connection details. The planner can then explain whether a change is practical for your dates and how it affects the quotation.
Planning basis: the linked Glider route catalogue. Routes are proposals; hotels, transport, access, prices and availability are confirmed in your written quote. This guide does not claim a first-hand visit or live supplier availability.
