A connection is a real part of the holiday
A Italy route connecting Rome, Florence and Venice includes travel between stay bases. That movement takes time beyond the transport itself: checking out, reaching the departure point, handling bags, arriving and checking in all affect the day. Treat the route as a sequence of stays and connections, rather than a list of attractions joined by arrows.
Check the connections around your bases
Rome
If Rome is an overnight base, confirm the arrival and departure points for that stay. Ask whether the next leg towards Florence is part of the route you selected or an optional extension. The transport method, pickup time and luggage arrangements need to be quoted for your actual dates. Keep Colosseum flexible on an arrival day until the connection is confirmed.
Florence
If Florence is an overnight base, confirm the arrival and departure points for that stay. Ask whether the next leg towards Venice is part of the route you selected or an optional extension. The transport method, pickup time and luggage arrangements need to be quoted for your actual dates. Keep Duomo flexible on an arrival day until the connection is confirmed.
Venice
If Venice is an overnight base, confirm the arrival and departure points for that stay. Ask whether the next leg towards Rome is part of the route you selected or an optional extension. The transport method, pickup time and luggage arrangements need to be quoted for your actual dates. Keep Grand Canal flexible on an arrival day until the connection is confirmed.
Read the day-wise route before choosing
| Route | Trip length | Stay bases |
|---|---|---|
| Rome → Florence | 6 days / 5 nights | 2 |
| Florence → Venice | 6 days / 5 nights | 2 |
| Rome → Venice | 6 days / 5 nights | 2 |
| Rome → Florence → Venice | 8 days / 7 nights | 3 |
| Venice → Florence → Rome | 10 days / 9 nights | 3 |
Open the proposed plan and find the day when the overnight base changes. Ask the planner to confirm whether the connection uses road, rail, boat or a flight for the specific route and dates. The route name alone is not proof that any particular transport is included or available.
A transfer checklist for the written quote
- Departure and arrival points, pickup details and provider contact arrangements.
- Transport method, luggage allowance and whether connections are on one booking.
- Checkout, next check-in and arrangements for bags between them.
- Whether a guide, porter or assistance service is actually included.
- What happens if a connection changes and which provider handles the adjustment.
Keep ticketed sightseeing flexible on a connection day until the timings are firm. If reducing transfers is a priority, compare a one-base Italy route or fewer hotel changes over the same number of days. That may change the experiences you cover, so make the trade-off explicit before asking for prices.
Planning basis: the linked Glider route catalogue. Routes are proposals; hotels, transport, access, prices and availability are confirmed in your written quote. This guide does not claim a first-hand visit or live supplier availability.
